Why is skin care so important?

The answer is simple: your skin is important. Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It's the first barrier of protection, it stops infractions and other nasty outside forces from harming your body. What it comes down to is when you take care of your skin, your skin takes care of you.

Your skin is compromised of three layers. The hypodermis is the innermost subcutaneous layer filled with fat cells to insulate your body. The dermis is the middle layer that houses collagen and elastin fibers. The epidermis is the outer layer of skin meant to protect your body from environmental elements.

Unfortunately over time a few things can play a huge role in how effective those layers are at doing their job.

  1. Skin cells in the epidermis become thinner

  2. Collagen and elastin production slows

  3. Fat cells in the hypodermis shrink

What happens over time is our skin isn't protected against harsh environmental factors and we begin to form wrinkles and fine lines. We lose that facial volume that keeps us looking young.

On top of all of that, sun exposure speeds up the aging process. That's why we always recommend using a product that has SPF in it.

What about acne?

Acne requires a different approach but we offer medical-grade skincare that is specific to acne, too! Acne typically does get better over time, but sometimes underlying factors like stress, puberty and hormones changes can really cause it to flare up.

Medical-grade products like PCA target oil glands and bacteria while exfoliating dead skin cells to clear away acne and improve the overall texture of your skin.

"There are a ton of over the counter products that do the same thing..."

That is unfortunately not true. Many over the counter products claim to do the same thing. If you really want to transform your skin and get the very best results for your money, you're going to need medical-grade skincare products.

When looking at a product, try to consider these things.

  1. The clinical testing process

  2. The concentration of active ingredients

  3. The quality of active ingredients

So, let's take a look at these categories with the PCA Skincare line.

The clinical testing process

"Formulating new products takes years to perfect. Before a new formulation is released, PCA SKIN performs extensive product testing and all finished products are tested with patients in medical practices." -PCA Skin website

PCA SKIN® uses blends of well-tolerated, safe and effective peeling ingredients to break down surface buildup. Results are dramatic when used in conjunction with a comprehensive daily care regimen." -PCA Skin website
